Why isn't my laptop working?

I was just on the internet and the intense explored just kinda stopped working, maybe I was clicking too much tuen it didn't respond. The arrow turned into that circle thingy and I couldn't even turn the laptop off so I had to hold the on off key kn my laptop. I turned my laptop on again and the same thing happened, what is wrong with m laptop. I also tried it on my guest account, the Internet and stuff worried but after a while it didn't work and started appearing the circle arrow I had to hold the on off button just to turn it on. Now I have an essay due and can't figure out how to work my laptop properly. Anyone know how o can fix my laptop?
